How We Review Games
Our reviews explain what a game offers for free, where it asks for money, and which players are most likely to enjoy it.
We assess each game as a whole and describe the trade-offs that matter to players. The weight of each criterion depends on the game; these judgements are qualitative, not a hidden points formula.
What we consider
- Free content: the amount and variety available without spending, and whether a new player can reach it.
- Core gameplay: how coherent, satisfying, and distinctive the central loop appears from the available material.
- Accessibility: onboarding, clarity of systems, options, and barriers for newcomers.
- Long-term depth: meaningful activities, progression, and reasons to return beyond daily pressure.
- Monetisation and transparency: purchases, subscriptions, battle passes, randomised rewards, and how clearly costs and odds are explained.
- Technical and community context: stated platform and hardware requirements, service status where verifiable, and the role of an active player community.
- Free-tier limits: restrictions on modes, story, progression, social features, or access to updates.
Recommendation labels
Labels are editorial summaries of fit and value, not numerical ratings:
- Essential: an especially strong free experience with broad appeal or lasting influence.
- Highly recommended: a standout choice, with limitations that are worth understanding.
- Recommended: a good fit for its audience, though notable trade-offs may narrow its appeal.
- Niche pick: rewarding for a particular interest, play style, or community.
Research and updates
We use official developer, publisher, and store sources for changeable details such as pricing models, platforms, and access. These can change after publication, so readers should use linked official pages for current terms. An update date indicates an editorial revision, not continuous monitoring. We do not claim personal testing unless a page explicitly documents that work.
Corrections
Readers can report a possible error through the contact form. We assess the supporting information and revise pages when a correction is warranted.
